The Holidays are approaching faster and faster as time goes by. It doesn't help that now the retailers have already set up their holiday displays and are advertising to "buy now, or buy early." Uhhggh!!!! Hibernation is sounding really good right now. Yes! Let's RETREAT, FALL BACK, AND RE-THINK....
What we have learned so far. Reviewing what you have learned so far is an important step in moving forward with any goal but especially infertility. Taking a moment to regroup or just taking a break can give you the boost of hope that have have needed. With all the tests, pokes and time it takes to pay attention to every single moment while surviving infertility, bringing some peace back into your life will be the relief you are looking for.
I've been taking a break of my own. This year the Dutchman and I have been spending more time together with family and now meeting with our social worker as our Foster/adoption gets closer to becoming a reality. the feelings of being scared of the unknown and Xcited as all-get-out keep playing ping pong in my head often. I have to give myself a little mental "time-out" to regroup my thoughts to being grateful, Xcited an visioning the kind of joy a child will bring into our lives.
No matter where you are on your family building journey, taking a step back in order to take two steps forward can help keep your life in balance. One of the most valuable tools you can have is to be grateful during this break. Right now, the "30 day of Gratitude" has gone viral, at least on my Facebook page. Awesome.
Try it as you take this time to Fall Back.
It's simple. Everyday for the next 30 days, WRITE, POST, and/or SAY OUT LOUD what you are grateful for. Maybe it's certain people, objects, things, your health. With infertility, we focus so hard on what we don't have yet, )our babies) instead of focusing on what we do have, (our families, friends, shelter, ability to exercise etc.) This exercise will help you get through the holidays with a sense of Peace and it will fill your heart with love and joy.
Join me on the Xtraordinary Fertility Facebook page or Twitter with your 30 Days of Gratitude Practice. I'll help you stay with it.
